This performance will be presented on June 2nd (7pm), June 6th (4pm), and June 7th (3pm), all at Rockette Bar. In JUDITH, Sarah Chouinard-Poirier mobilizes, embodies, and gives voice to the figure of the living dead — this body that has been dehumanized and rendered monstrous — to expose the fear of the Other and denounce the narratives that govern the war on drugs. Drawing on references to popular culture and their own experience as an intervention and community worker, the artist delivers a multifaceted performance where zombies, cinema, humor, and theoretical underpinnings intersect in an embodied reflection on the hygienist, racist, and classist biopowers that govern substances and bodies.
