Chabanel

Chabanel est un duo qubcois de musique lectronique improvise tabli Montral. Fond en 2014 par Gabriel Sasseville-Jolicoeur (basse prpare et lectroniques) et Jordan Torres Bussire (lectroniques et programmation), le duo utilise notamment le dtournement de clichs contemporains de conception sonore publicitaire et d'EDM, en plus de l'abstraction tendance bruitiste. Leur travail est centr surl'improvisation dirige, le no-input et le traitement en temps rel dans MaxMSP.

Chabanel s'inscrit dans une dmarche critique de l'homognisation des cultures etdes imaginaires sociaux par les nouvelles technologies propres au capitalisme tardif. Le motif : utiliser le dumping culturel anglo-saxon post-industriel (l'exproprier au sens anarchiste du terme) enle broyant en un matriau brut, faonner ce-dernier d'un point devue qubcois, puis le balancersens inverse dans une optique de rsistance culturelle.

Au fil des annes, Chabanel a fait paratre plusieurs albums, notamment Brle (2021) et Play Queue (2018), en plus de collaborer l'album-zine Intersections (Small Scale Music, 2020) avec Claude Priard et Raphal Nron.

Valeda

Valeda est une musicienne et artiste sonorebase entre Montral et Lefkosa. Elle tudie prsentement larchologie Chypre. Valeda est un projet nourri par une pratique de dissection intuitive, par le chaos et la rverie et un besoin de rendre palpable lintangible.Elle a t artiste en rsidence MONOM Berlin (2023) et au Spatial Sound Institute Budapest (2021). Parmi ses performances rcentes, on compte des prestationsen direct Lefkosa, Montral (MUTEK), Paris (festival MOFO), Amsterdam, Berlin et Varsovie pour Soul Feeder, LosAngeles, Bruxelles (Printemps Numrique), ainsi quau festival Sacho Vicq-sur-Breuilh, en France. Sa musique a t publie travers les labels Soul Feeder, Angoisse, s.M.i.L.e, Kopi Records et susy.technology. En tant que membre du collectif darts numriques susy.technology, elle a particip une rsidence au centre darts numriques Chteau phmre Carrires-sous-Poissy, en France, ainsi qu une rsidence la Socit des arts technologiques (SAT) Montral. Cest l que le collectif a conuune performance immersive en dme audio/visuel intitule ANTILOGY, prsente en premire lors dufestival MUTEK en 2021. En 2023, susy.technology a galement cr une nouvelle performance A/V dans le cadre de MUTEK x INSCAPE, prsente lUsine C Montral.

Join us for a dialogue between nature, architecture, and the urban fabric, and discover our sculpture garden with guided tours. At once a garden in the city and a museum in the open air, the sculpture garden, conceived by Melvin Charney, evokes the history of landscape design and comments on Montreals early industrial sector below the hill.

Cinéfaçade: Sowing and Resisting in Brazilian Topography - Music and Chao screening

In the framework of our exhibition With an Acre, join us for three evenings in Parc Baile with music and screenings of Brazilian documentary films selected by Ana Alice de Morais, artistic co-director of the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM). These evenings are an opportunity to learn about issues related to the intensive exploitation of natural resources and agricultural land in Brazil and the struggles of rural and Indigenous communities to preserve their land rights, culture, traditions, and independence.

Each evening will begin with music and pão de queijo in the park at 7:30pm, followed by a screening on our façade at 8:30pm.

oin us on Saturday 16 August for an exhibition tour, film screening, coffee tasting, and conversation, in collaboration with Dispatch Coffee. Expanding on our exhibition and film, With an Acre, this event series considers agriculture, land stewardship, and global interdependence through coffee production in Brazil.

Each session invites 25 visitors to join a guided tour of the exhibition, with a screening of the film featuring Carla Juaçaba’s work, followed by a coffee tasting led by Dispatch Coffee co-founder Chrissy Durcak. This experience will feature a curated coffee from smallholder farms in Minas Gerais, Brazil—showcasing the region and communities at the heart of With an Acre. Following the tasting, guests are invited to join a virtual Q&A with a guest speaker from within the Brazilian coffee value chain, offering deeper insight into the realities and relationships behind the beans. Through this tasting, Dispatch and the CCA invite guests to experience coffee not just as a product, but as a reflection of place and cultural and ecological narrative.

Each session includes a 50-minute screening, 30-minute guided tasting, and 40-minute conversation with a coffee producer.

En rponse lre des changements rapides et des crises, le Forum encourage une exploration de la manire dont les rituels cratifs et les pratiques mergentes peuvent proposer des solutions radicales, inclusives et durables.

Les lieux emblmatiques deMontral tels que la Socit des arts technologiques [SAT], le Monument-National, OASIS Immersion et DASA accueilleront une programmation dense o la musique, l'intelligence artificielle (IA), les arts mdiatiques, la ralit tendue (XR), les jeux vido et lcologie se rencontreront pour nourrir des changes transformatifs.

Le jour 1 du Forum, prsent par le Fonds des mdias du Canada, Narration : Dpasser les ralits , explorera comment la technologie transforme la manire dont nous racontons des histoires et partageons des expriences. Avec des interventions dartistes et de chercheurseuses en IA, des performances interactives, et une exploration du potentiel narratif dans les jeux vido et les installations immersives, cette premire journe mettra en lumire les nouvelles possibilits dexpression crative.

Le jour 2, consacr aux interfaces du futur, mettra laccent sur les innovations technologiques de demain : du machine learning la musique gnrative en passant par linformatique quantique. Linterconnexion des disciplines crera un dialoguestimulant pour imaginer un futur o la technologie sert la cration artistique et le partage de connaissances.

Le jour 3 sera ddi aux avenirs thiques, en abordant les questions cruciales de la durabilit et de l'inclusivit dans la cration numrique. Des confrences sur les modles dcentraliss et la gouvernance de lIA seront proposes, tout en mettant laccent sur des pratiques responsables pour rinventer les relations entre artistes, technologies et socits.

Paralllement la programmation, des vnements de rseautage dynamiques seront organiss, offrant des occasions uniques de se connecter avec des expertes, crateurstrices et institutions de renomme internationale.

For the 26th editionof the MUTEK Montreal festival, British artist and composer Max Cooper presents his latest audiovisual experience, Lattice 3D/AV, as well as his new album On Being.

MaxCoopers Lattice 3D/AV is his most ambitious live system to date,offering a one-of-a-kind experience for audiences to engage with his experimental vision.

Created incollaboration with Architecture Social Club, Lattice 3D/AV combinesprojections, semi-transparent layers, lights, and lasers to create dynamic, extruded imagery. These elements extend off the screens into the audience, forming light sculptures that bring the themes of OnBeing to life, alongside new visual collaborations and selections from Cooper's full back catalogue.

Cinéfaçade: Sowing and Resisting in Brazilian Topography - Music and Rejeito screening

In the framework of our exhibition With an Acre, join us for three evenings in Parc Baile with music and screenings of Brazilian documentary films selected by Ana Alice de Morais, artistic co-director of the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM). These evenings are an opportunity to learn about issues related to the intensive exploitation of natural resources and agricultural land in Brazil and the struggles of rural and Indigenous communities to preserve their land rights, culture, traditions, and independence.

Each evening will begin with music and pão de queijo in the park at 7:30pm, followed by a screening on our façade at 8:30pm.

Join us for a two-day hands-on workshop for adults led by sound artist Ludwig Berger, inviting participants to attune to their sonic environment in dialogue with the themes of Oscillating Spaces. On the first day, the participants will focus on deep listening practices developed by Pauline Oliveros—an ensemble of sonic meditations, movement, and breathwork intended to deepen auditory perception. On the second day, participants will explore the urban soundscape surrounding the CCA, working with a range of field recording techniques to compose brief audio pieces that respond to our shared acoustic and built environment.

Open to 16 adults. No prior experience is required. Participants are expected to bring their own laptops and, if possible, wired headphones for the workshop on Sunday 24 August.

Workshop participation is CAD 35 for one day or CAD 60 for both days.

Ludwig Berger is a sound artist, musician, and educator whose work explores the sonic presences of organisms and places. He focuses on interspecies, geological, and architectural listening in landscapes. Trained in electroacoustic composition, he was a researcher at the Institute of Landscape Architecture at ETH Zurich and is a Deep Listening instructor. His practice integrates field recording, scientific inquiry, and speculative listening across disciplines. His work has received recognition from Prix Ars Electronica, the Sound of the Year Awards, and A Closer Listen’s Best Soundscape Albums of the Decade. Raised in a village in the Vosges-Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve (Germany/France), he is currently based in Montréal.

Where : On the paved area around Wills Bar, 6729 Esplanade Avenue.
What : These events are part of the Taking Alexandra Marconi project organized by Lynn Hughes and Francine Lalonde in partnership with the Produit Rien gallery, where a complementary exhibition will take place from October 18 to November 2.

The project's objective is to reflect, in a poetic and/or pragmatic way, on a neglected but fascinating area located between Marconi and Avenue du Parc, and between St Zotique and Jean Talon. Both a playground and an informal passageway, this isolated area contains magical, even romantic, nooks and crannies, such as the small wooded area and the railway line. But it is also largely paved, forming a heat island primarily dedicated to cars.

Abdul-Wahab a fait ses tudes de ouden 1989 au Conservatoire nationalde musique dAmman, en Jordaniesous la tutelle de Sakher Hattar.Pendant son sjour Amman, il a galement reu l'enseignement et les conseils du virtuose irakien de l'oud Munir Bashir. Il a perform travers le Moyen-Orient, lEurope et lAmrique du Nord. En 2020, il a co-fond le triode musique du monde Les Arrivants Montral avec Hamin Honari et Amichai Ben Shalev. Il a galement sorti son premier album solo Juthoor en 2020.

Ses projets ont t reconnus et soutenus par la Fondation Abdul-Hameed Shoman et la Fondation Bank Al Etihad en Jordanie, et il obtient la reconnaissance et lappui du Conseil des arts du Canada, du Conseildes arts et des lettres du Qubec, du Conseil des arts de Montral et du Conseil qubcois de la musique.

En plus de se produire avec Les Arrivants travers le Canada et les tats-Unis, il a rcemment collabor pour jouer et enregistrer avec Tariq Harb (le guitare classique), Saeed Farajpouri (kamancheh), Salah Eddin Maraqa (kanoun), Sheila Hannigan (le violoncelle), Merrie Klazek (la trompette), Haitham Haidar (voix), et ensemble Constantinople.

Abdul-Wahab commenced his oud studies in 1989 at the National Music Conservatory of Amman,

a fait maintenant 2 ans que le jam se droule au Studio Pierre-Paul Savoie, 5333 Casgrain, studio 716. Et on va fter a !

Lesportes ouvriront exceptionnellement 17h15 pour le Potluck ! De la nourriture sera servie, et on vous invite apporter votre meilleur plat maison pour contribuer au festin ! Svp indiquer les ingrdients sur un bout de papier pour informer les participants

On poursuivra ensuite avec un cercle d'ouverture , suivi d'un chauffement de 20 30 minutes inspir d'approches somatiques et autres permettant une prise de contact avec sa propre corporalit avant d'aller la rencontre des autres danseurs.

Par la suite, le jam se poursuit jusqu' 20h30, et nous ferons alors un court cercle de fermeture. Nous aurons ensuite la possibilit de rester dans l'espace pour changer entre nous. Les danseurs de tous niveaux sont les bienvenus.

Cinéfaçade: Sowing and Resisting in Brazilian Topography - Music and Mundurukuyü screening

In the framework of our exhibition With an Acre, join us for three evenings in Parc Baile with music and screenings of Brazilian documentary films selected by Ana Alice de Morais, artistic co-director of the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM). These evenings are an opportunity to learn about issues related to the intensive exploitation of natural resources and agricultural land in Brazil and the struggles of rural and Indigenous communities to preserve their land rights, culture, traditions, and independence.

Each evening will begin with music and pão de queijo in the park at 7:30pm, followed by a screening on our façade at 8:30pm.

Three women from the Daje Kapap Eypi audiovisual collective take up the camera as a weapon in defence of their ancestry, ensuring the preservation and transmission of their indigenous Munduruku mythology that speaks of the origins of the world, when humans transformed into forests, plants, and animals.

These events are open to all and no registration is required. In the event of rain, the screening will take place inside the museum.

La nature est queer. Elle occupe certains interstices de la ville et peut nous offrir des lieux de ressourcement, de rassemblement et d’inspiration. Le Chœur queer t’invite au Champ des possibles, où les herbes poussent librement, pour un atelier artistique lors duquel tu pourras découvrir le paysage sonore et interagir avec celui-ci. L’atelier sera l’occasion d’écouter attentivement l’environnement sonore de ce corridor vert traversé par les animaux humains et non humains, puis de «répondre» au lieu, d’explorer les voix en soi pour les faire résonner avec les sons qui habitent l’espace et prendre conscience de nos connexions à l’espace. Le tout se terminera par une période de discussion et de partage autour de nos ressentis et expériences. Le Chœur queer est un collectif de personnes des communautés LGBTQIAP+ aux pratiques vocales diverses se réunissant autour de leur envie de faire chœur dans un esprit d’exploration et de jeu.
L'événement se tiendra beau temps mauvais temps. Il ne sera annulé qu'en cas de pluies abondantes ou de temps orageux.

L'activité, gratuite, est soutenue par l'arrondissement du Plateau-Mont-Royal.

ACCESSIBILITÉ
Le lieu est entouré de trottoirs en béton, craquelés par endroits. Les sentiers de terre battue et de gravier qui le traversent sont parfois étroits, parfois rocailleux et inégaux, et peuvent devenir boueux selon la météo des jours précédents. Il existe une aire de repos avec des bancs de béton. Des toilettes chimiques sont disposées à quelque distance du lieu. Merci de contacter Jade pour plus de détails à propos de l'accessibilité du lieu.

L'endroit est contaminé en raison de son passé industriel. Sans que le Champ ne présente de danger pour la santé lorsqu'on le traverse, des rapports recommandent de ne pas toucher ou goûter aux plantes qui s'y trouvent.
La station de métro Rosemont est à une douzaine de minutes de marche, idem pour la station Laurier (sortie Laurier). Les lignes d’autobus 30-31–Saint-Denis et 55–Saint-Laurent s’arrêtent tout près. Des stations de BIXI (Saint-Viateur / De Gaspé ou Henri-Julien / du Carmel) de même que le REV sont situés à proximité.

RECONNAISSANCE TERRITORIALE
Les terres sur lesquelles nous tiendrons cet atelier font partie de territoires traditionnels des Kanien’kehá:ka et des Anishinaabe, appelées Tiohtià:ke ou Mooniyang dans leur langue respective. La nation Kanien’kehá:ka en est considérée la gardienne et nous souhaitons exprimer notre gratitude à leurs actions pour préserver les terres et les eaux qui nous entourent au passé, au présent et aussi dans l'avenir.
Le colonialisme a apporté avec lui un rapport au territoire malsain, fait d'exploitation des ressources et de propriété privée. Ses impacts nocifs s'étendent aussi aux rapports sociaux de genre, notamment par la stigmatisation et la marginalisation des personnes bispirituelles.
Nous invitons toute personne ici présente à s'interroger sur ses actions et ses schèmes de pensée, à prendre conscience des impacts de cette histoire et à réfléchir aux actions à sa portée pour contrer le statu quo et faire mieux. Par exemple, nous encourageons toute personne à s'informer davantage au sujet des Premiers Peuples, d'entrer en lien avec l'art qui s'est fait par le passé et qui se fait aujourd'hui, et de contribuer de son temps, argent et énergie aux luttes autochtones actuelles, dans la mesure de ses capacités.
Le Chœur queer valorise l'écoute (de soi et des autres) et l'accessibilité universelle. Inspiré par les idées de bell hooks et d'adrienne maree brown, l'ensemble cultive un espace brave où on peut nommer les malaises et les oppressions afin de travailler à les démanteler.

Nature is queer. It occupies interstices in the city and can offer spaces of revitalization, gathering, and inspiration. Chœur queer invites you to Champ des possibles, where herbs grow freely, for an artistic workshop during which you can explore the soundscape and interact with it. The workshop will give you the opportunity to listen carefully to the sounds of that green corridor used by human and non-human animals. We will then echo the environment and explore the voices within us to have them resonate with the soundscape, to develop an awareness of our connections to the space and people around us. The workshop will end with a discussion and sharing moment around what we felt and experienced. Chœur queer is a collective of people from the LGBTQIAP+ communities with diverse vocal practices, united by the desire to gather around a spirit of exploration and play.
The event will be held rain or shine. It will only be canceled if there is heavy rain or stormy weather.

ACCESSIBILITY INFO
The area is surrounded by concrete sidewalks, cracked in places. The dirt and gravel paths that cross the Champ are sometimes narrow, sometimes rocky and uneven, and can become muddy depending on the weather on previous days. There is a rest area with concrete benches. Chemical toilets are available at some distance from the site. Please contact Jade for details on accessibility.
The site is contaminated due to its industrial past. Although the Champ does not present a health hazard when crossed, reports recommend not to touch or taste any of the plants found there.
Rosemont or Laurier metro station is about a 12-minute walk from the Champ. Bus lines 30-31–Saint-Denis and 55–Saint-Laurent stop nearby. BIXI stations (Saint-Viateur / De Gaspé or Henri-Julien / du Carmel) as well as the REV are located close by.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The lands on which we'll be holding this workshop are part of the traditional territories of the Kanien'kehá:ka and Anishinaabe peoples, known as Tiohtià:ke or Mooniyang in their respective languages. The Kanien'kehá:ka Nation is considered their custodian, and we wish to express our gratitude towards their actions in preserving the lands and waters that surround us, past, present and future.
Colonialism brought an unhealthy relationship with the land, based on the exploitation of resources and private property. Its harmful impacts also extend to gender relations, notably through the stigmatization and marginalization of two-spirited people.
We invite everyone present with us to question their actions and thought patterns, to become aware of the impacts of this history, and to reflect on the actions within their reach to counter the status quo and do better. CHANTALNEVEU is a francophone author of seven books of poetry and numerousinterdisciplinary literary works presented in Canada, and abroad. At the heart of her practice, a method of scriptage, based on listening, irrigates a literal and physical poetry with which she explores the idyll in all directions. Her books translated into English are published by Book*hug Press: Cot by Angela Carr, A Spectacular Influence by Nathanal, This Radiant Life by Ern Moure (Winner of the 2021 Governor Generals Literary Award for Translation, Winnerof the 2021 Nelson Ball Prize), and more recently, you by Ern Moure. Chantal Neveu is based in Tiohti:ke/Montreal.

Since 1990, he has appeared onmore than seventy albums. He is associated with the Ambiances Magntiques record label, on top of being the co-founder of the label &records. Hes also running the label Sono Sordo. We can find him backing up these acts: Mecha Fixes Clocks, Klaxon Gueule, Pink Saliva,Jane & the magick bananas, and Tiari Kese a duo with himself. In June 2022, he publishes a book/object, Danses venir. Written incollaboration with Catherine Lavoie-Marcus, Danses venir is a collection of 161 proposed dances that speculates about the art of choreography and invents its future with no concern for feasibility.

JONATHAN PARANT is an experiential rock musician who seeks to assign noise signals functions of minimal determination. His guitar, transformed into a synthesis interface, allows him to probe the thresholds of apperception. With the complicity of loudspeakers, he now pursues his quest for surface affects under the name Actors Artificial (AA). His current process explores the dormant capacities inherent ina practice of duration. Since then, he has moved through banal episodes which, despite their apparentinsignificance, bind him to the exception that is the real. His manifestations dissipate through telluric or post-geographic networks, notably within the group Fly Pan Am. His work has been released on the labels Squint Fucker Press and Constellation. His most recent project under the AA moniker was published by Superpang and Disfold Ltd.

This exhibition is a tribute to the skaters who shaped it, repped it, and kept it alive.Pour lancer le 10e anniversaire d’ELLEPHANT, on braque les projecteurs sur la gang qui fait vibrer le coin juste devant nos fenêtres depuis des années. Bien avant que les balayeuses de la Ville passent au printemps, ce sont les skateurs qui nettoient le Parc de la Paix, prêts à rouler jusqu’à ce que la neige les arrête.
