For its 2026-2027 programming year, articule has chosenDEPROGRAMMING as its theme. Following a move in the middle of the pandemic, staff turnover, burnout, and financial uncertainty, articule is scheduling some time to recalibrate. We invite you to transformand adapt our space, to try out fresh ideas, and to make old ideas new again.

Taking a break from 6-week exhibitions, we are seeking proposals that may not fit neatly into a white cube, such as public interventions, live art projects, happenings, new artistic practices,public talks, workshops, screeningsany and all sort of undisciplinary activities. We invite local,national and international artists, collectives, art institutions and curators to submit proposals that respond to this theme in whatever way they see fit.

This year's cohort of the Master's in Visual Arts at UQAM, together with the CDEx Center for Dissemination and Experimentation, are holding two successive exhibitions: Aucun mur ne sera construit I and II. The first edition features work by Samuel Alie, Giliane April, Mathieu Bouchard, Lilou Crosson, Yassin De Hullessen, Ange Houtin, Thierry Lambert, Phalonne Pierre Louis, SUPER CLUB VIDEO, Yanick Tanguay et Johnatan Tremblay. These works were created as part of the course Atelier de création I taught by Professor Julie Trudel.

PART I: Arya Deva Suryanegara & Srayamurtikanti


I Putu Arya Deva Suryanegara est un compositeur et musicien originaire de Kerobokan, Bali, dont le travail explore des approches exprimentales ancres dans le gamelan balinais et les systmes de musique assiste par ordinateur. Arya se concentre sur l'lectroacoustique, la psychoacoustique, la spatialisation sonore et l'interaction humain-machine dans le contexte des performances multicanaux et des installations sonores robotiques.

Ni Nyoman Srayamurtikanti est une compositrice et musicienne originaire de Celuk, Sukawati, Gianyar, Bali.Sa pratique musicale explore des uvres exprimentales, thtrales et ractives au lieu, ancresdans les traditions du gamelan balinais. Sraya est directrice artistique de Sanggar S'mara Murti et CIRAT.

Dans le cadre du projet CIRAT, ils s'engagent dans des approches interdisciplinaires de la cration et de la performance musicales, impliquant l'utilisation de latechnologie, la manipulation de l'espace scnique et les pratiquesaudiovisuelles.

Aryas creative focus includes electroacoustics, psychoacoustics, sound spatialization, and human-computer interaction in the context of multi-channel performance and robotic sound installations.

Ni Nyoman Srayamurtikanti is a composer and musician from Celuk, Sukawati, Gianyar, Bali. Her musical practice explores experimental, theatrical, and site-responsive works grounded in the traditions of Balinese gamelan. Sraya is the artistic directorof Sanggar Smara Murti and CIRAT.

Under the project CIRAT, theyengage in interdisciplinary approaches to music creation and performance, involving the use of technology, stage space manipulation, and audiovisual practices.


PART II: David Rosenboom


David Rosenboom est un compositeur, interprteet auteur post-genre dont le travail, depuis les annes 1960, couvre de multiples facettes : performances musicales, compositions aux formes spontanment volutives, collaborations interculturelles, multimdia interactif, nouvelles technologies instrumentales, recherche et philosophie en art-science,et art crbral. Il se produit rgulirement dans des salles internationales et a fait l'objet degrandes rtrospectives au Whitney Museum of American Art, au Centre Pompidou-Metz, au Tokyo Opera City et dans d'autres lieux. Il continue tre largement publi etenregistr et travaille actuellement sur son prochain livre, Propositional Music. Au cours de sa longue carrire, il a occup des postes importants SUNY Buffalo, Electric Circus (New York), York University (Toronto), Mills College,CalArts, parmi d'autres.

Rosenboom prsentera deux uvres :
Portable Gold and Philosophers Stones (Deviant Resonances), pour deux interprtes d'ondes crbrales et un interprte de l'lectronique informatique ; et
Future TravelExtracts, qui revisite les modles musicaux gnratifs propositionnels bass sur la morphogense rsonante.


David Rosenboom is a post-genre composer-performer-author whose work since the 1960shas traversed multifaceted musical performance, spontaneously evolving forms in composition, cross-cultural collaborations, interactivemulti-media, new instrument technologies, art-science research and philosophy, and brain art. He regularly presents in international venues and has had major retrospectives at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Centre Pompidou-Metz, Tokyo Opera City, and other places. He continues to be widely publishedand recorded and is working on his forthcoming book, Propositional Music. During his long career he has held important positions at SUNY Buffalo, Electric Circus (New York), York University (Toronto), Mills College, CalArts, and others.

Rosenboom will perform two works:
Portable Gold and Philosophers Stones (Deviant Resonances), fortwo brainwave performers and one computer-electronics performer; and
Future TravelExtracts, that revisits generative propositional musical models based on resonant morphogenesis.

For one night only, artist Michela Snoyer will host a performance in which she invites attendees to write their fears, distresses, blockages onto a piece of paper which she will then fold into origami hearts and add them to a plexiglass vessel in the centre of the space. A weekly embodiment lab & deep listening practice
Autumn 2025: 10-week series
Wednesdays 6:45 PM - 8:45 PM, Metro Mont-Royal


Field Studies are weekly guided embodiment labs where you will explore how to tune your body as an instrument of resonance. A practice in deep listening, each session refines your receptivity and your attention to live sound, breath, impulse, and spatial awareness.

When we enter “The Field”, we work with the following pillars:
deep listening, curiosity, improvisation, imagery, play, tuning, witnessing, and ritual (*please read in more detail below).

Dance improvisation artist, Valerie Sabbah, will guide explorations of movement and stillness, where you will experiment both responding to and shaping the musical landscape that is being improvised in real-time by multi-instrumentalist and live improv artist Emma Anders.
Movement becomes both response and offering as you enter into a shared space of sonic-somatic research. What emerges is a collective composition - a living score of mutual resonance.


WHO IS THIS FOR

This container is for anyone searching to learn to land into and inhabit more fully the body and in becoming aligned and congruent as an expressive being. This container invites pathways to the innate artist within and a return to inner sovereignty as a lived, embodied experience. We are cultivating receptive capacity and trust in the body’s wisdom, to surrender to our own timing, truth, and expression as they emerge and are witnessed.
The aim is to learn how to work from where we are, as we are. To come to meet the information inside ourselves and connect to our inner impulse and music. To gain access to our entire aliveness, and to fully engage. To become fully resonant, and express ourselves freely and fully.

This is your opportunity to learn improvisational and compositional movement techniques. This research container invites intention, presence, care, and curiosity—honoring both the singular journey and the shared field.

PILLARS OF “THE FIELD”

1. DEEP LISTENING
Deep listening is the practice of being fully present and receptive to sound, silence, the environment, and one’s inner experience. It involves listening with the whole self . It is an active, intentional process that cultivates heightened awareness, empathy, and connection — both to others and to the self.

2. CURIOSITY
We approach each moment with curiosity, allowing questions, sensations, and impulses to guide our exploration.

3. IMPROVISATION
Improvisation is our core mode of research — structured through scores* or open exploration, it reveals what wants to emerge in the moment.
*Scores: A score is a structured improvisation—a set of poetic constraints or propositions that guide movement, sound, and attention. Scores create a shared framework for exploration, inviting participants to enter specific physical, spatial, or relational configurations that activate deep listening, imagination, and presence. These structures support the emergence of the inner artist and foster a sense of inner sovereignty by offering clear yet open-ended invitations for embodied research and co-creation.

4. IMAGERY
Imagery (Imagining and Visualizing). We engage the imagination as a tool for embodiment, allowing inner images and visualizations to inform movement and expression.

5. PLAY
Playfulness keeps us open and fluid, inviting experimentation, joy, and discovery without attachment to outcome.

6. TUNING
We tune — to ourselves, to each other, to the space — cultivating attunement and resonance as a foundation for presence.

7. WITNESSING
We practice witnessing with care, offering and receiving attention that is non-judgmental, spacious, and supportive.

8. RITUAL
Ritual (Journaling, Circle, Sharing, Opening and Closing): Ritual grounds the container, marking beginnings and endings, and weaving integration through shared reflection and intention.

Un laboratoire incarné et une pratique d’écoute profonde
Automne 2025: série de 10 semaines
Les mercredis de 18h45 à 20h45, métro Mont-Royal


Ces « Field Studies » hebdomadaires sont des laboratoires de mouvement guidé, où vous explorerez comment accorder votre corps comme un instrument de résonance. Une pratique d’écoute profonde, chaque séance affine votre réceptivité et votre attention au son vivant, à la respiration, à l’impulsion et à la conscience de l’espace.

Lorsque nous entrons dans « The Field », nous travaillons avec les piliers suivants :
l’écoute profonde, la curiosité, l’improvisation, l’imagerie, le jeu, l’accordage, le témoignage et le rituel (*lisez en détail ci-dessous).

Artiste en improvisation dansée, Valerie Sabbah guidera des explorations de mouvement et d’immobilité, où chacun·e sera amené·e à expérimenter à la fois la réponse et la co-création du paysage musical improvisé en temps réel par la multi-instrumentiste et artiste d’improvisation live Emma Anders.
Le mouvement devient à la fois réponse et offrande, dans un espace de recherche sonico-somatique partagé. Ce qui émerge est une composition collective – une partition vivante de résonance mutuelle.

𝙷𝙾𝙼𝙴 est un ouvrage construit autour d’un concept que le monde contemporain rend de plus en plus vacillant : un chez-soi (something to call home). Ce sont des pratiques artistiques actuelles liées à l’image, des conversations privilégiées et intimistes avec des artistes au cours de la réalisation de différents projets qui ont inspiré l’amorce de la présente publication. 𝙷𝙾𝙼𝙴 élargit en des formes plus littéraires des sujets souvent fragiles, politiques, parfois dissimulés sous des dehors conceptuels, dont les fils cachés sont d’une récurrence troublante chez nombre d’artistes. Que peut-on encore appeler « chez-soi », « home »? 𝙷𝙾𝙼𝙴 réunit des textes de Karim Kattan, de Catherine Mavrikakis, de Kaitlyn Purcell, de Nina Yargekov et de France Choinière, éditrice de la publication, ainsi qu’une œuvre visuelle spécialement créée par Cindy Dumais pour habiter le cœur de l’ouvrage.

Le lancement de 𝙷𝙾𝙼𝙴 est une belle occasion de souligner l’apport de France Choinière, directrice générale et artistique, et de Jennifer Pham, coordonnatrice des communications et de l’édition, au centre. Cette publication est leur dernier projet d’envergure réalisé ensemble à Dazibao. De se réunir autour de la publication permet de leur rendre un chaleureux hommage et de célébrer leur engagement envers le milieu.

𝙷𝙾𝙼𝙴 grew out of a concept that is becoming increasingly shaky in today’s world: something to call home. The project was inspired by contemporary image-based art practices and privileged, intimate conversations with artists as they worked through their various projects. 𝙷𝙾𝙼𝙴 expands into literary form topics that are often fragile, political, or concealed behind a conceptual façade, with hidden threads that are disconcertingly recurrent in several artists’ work. What is there even to call home in the world as it is? 𝙷𝙾𝙼𝙴 is a collection of literary essays by Karim Kattan, Catherine Mavrikakis, Kaitlyn Purcell, Nina Yargekov, and France Choinière, also the book’s editor, as well as a visual piece created expressly by Cindy Dumais to inhabit the heart of the book.

The launch of 𝙷𝙾𝙼𝙴 is a meaningful moment to highlight the contributions of France Choinière, General and Artistic Director, and Jennifer Pham, Communications and Publishing Coordinator, to Dazibao. This publication marks their final major project together at the centre. Its launch offers an opportunity to come together, pay tribute to their work, and celebrate their dedication to the community.

Fond en 2009 par des locataires des anciens ateliers du 305 Bellechasse, ce march mariant arts visuels et artisanat continue de grandir.

Des artistes en arts visuels sont invits mettre profit leur savoir-faire pour produire des objets uniques et abordables. De leur ct, des artisanes etartisans sont slectionns pourleur lien avec les arts visuels et la singularit de leur dmarche. Le march est but non lucratif : 100 % des revenus reviennentaux exposant.e.s.

Le march metlaccent sur laspect festif et rassembleur. Nous vous convions une soire de lancement, dansla plus belle ambiance du district Chabanel, le vendredi 12 dcembre, de 17 h 20 h.

Du samedi audimanche, tous les artistes seront sur place pour vous prsenter leurs productions annuelles. Une salle sera rserve pour les enfants, avec projection de films
de Nol. Le chef cuisinier des ateliersBelleville tiendra la cantine.

🌟 3:30–5:00 PM — Grounded Connection Late Afternoon Workshop

Studio 1 — Guided Somatic Massage Exchange with Shanthi Minor, Massage Therapist, Osteopath, Somatic Educator

This workshop explores how mindful touch supports nervous system regulation and deep rest. We begin with a grounding self-massage to release tension and heighten somatic awareness. Participants then pair up for a guided floor massage exchange using gentle compressions, supported movement, and techniques designed to signal safety and calm. You’ll learn accessible tools to soothe your own system and offer grounding presence to another.

A soothing restorative session post Contact-Improvisation jam or as a separate workshop. No experience required. Comfortable, loose clothing recommended.

Move your body, bring your voice, follow your creative impulses… RiverFlow invites you to co-create a playground where we give ourselves permission to explore the raw side of improvisation.

A long-time practitioner of ecstatic dance and Core Energetics, this musician loves improvising soundscapes inspired by the moment, the space, and the people present.

Using his voice, guitar, and looper, he creates themes inviting dancers to dive into the unknown and discover, through movement, the full spectrum of sensation living in the body.

"the experimental session" est une soirée mensuelle d'exploration sonore entre trois musicien·ne·s de la scène montréalaise. Initiées par la multi-instrumentiste et compositrice Salomé Perli, ces soirées sont une occasion unique de mettre à l'honneur la musique improvisée et expérimentale au Quai Des Brumes, reconfiguré dans un cadre intime pour l'occasion.
Elyze Venne-Deshaies est multi-instrumentiste (instruments à vent, piano, synthétiseur, pédales d'effet et chant), compositrice, arrangeure, improvisatrice, pigiste et professeure de musique. Elle est cofondatrice de la série d'événements LUNES et le Festival EQUINOX, fondatrice des Productions de La Loba et directrice artistique de l'Ensemble Déplacer d'l'air. Son premier album solo, Les Grandes Solitudes des Femmes Sauvages (2021, Small Scale Music), a été finaliste aux GAMIQ 2021 dans la catégorie album expérimental. Collaborant sur plus d’une cinquantaine d’albums, elle s’est produite sur de nombreuses scènes et festivals, incluant le FIMAV 2023 avec Guy Thouin et en tant que directrice musicale de l'Ensemble Infini. Tempête Solaire, trio instrumental rock-spatial/avant-garde formé avec Eric Craven à la batterie, Eric Quach à la basse (Thisquietarmy) ainsi qu’elle-même au sax, se retrouve en finale au GAMIQ 2025 avec une nomination dans la catégorie Album/EP post-rock/post-punk pour leur première sortie, Heliospheric Dialogues (EP). Leur seconde parution (05-12-2025) La précession des équinoxes se présente sous le format d’un double EP. Le lancement est le 30 décembre 2025 au P’tit Ours.
Fahmid Nibesh is an improviser based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal. Improvisation, as a creative and generative praxis, fuels and guides his spiritual growth through an otherwise violent
and hyper consumptive economic paradigm. He is a multi-instrumentalist influenced by Will Alexander (poet), Anthony Braxton (musician, theorist), Stan Brakhage (filmmaker), Solvey
Johnsgaard (visual artist), the AACM (creative music collective), among countless others (including his cats). He has performed solo, in ensembles and residencies, and is a member of the electroacoustic duo Wenderly Park (with Tkaronto's “cultural archivist” Joe Strutt). He works as an A/V technician and on occasion, can be found video documenting DIY/improv events.
Ben Brown
I am a musician and composer based in Montreal, Canada. As a drummer, I have received a Juno Award with my group, Pugs and Crows. I have recorded on over 50 albums and toured extensively in Canada and Europe. I am also the artistic director of Music And Movement Mondays (MAMM) and the Conundrum series for solo drum performance. As a person with conductive hearing loss who uses a hearing aid, I am developing a uniquely embodied approach to playing percussion. I incorporate techniques of felt vibration and deep listening to allow my whole body to listen. For my project, Sound Sculptures, I play percussion on large-scale art sculptures in order to use these felt vibrations as a tool for musical composition. “Ben Brown is a rebel on the kit with an innovative approach to drumming.” Joy Mullen, BC Musician Magazine

Cette formation féminine, composée de Valéry St-Gelais (contrebasse) et Sandra Boulanger (violin), offre un son organique et artisanal qui habille des textes riches en humour et en observation. Actives sur la scène québécoise, elles ont performé aux Francos de Montréal, FME, Festivoix, Carnaval de Québec et Festif de Baie St-Paul, en plus d'être house band au GAMIQ 2023 et d'avoir participé à l'émission La Grande veillée. Les Vespérales de l'orgue du Sacré-Cœur présente la deuxième édition de la Nuit ambient du solstice d'hiver, avec des atmosphères sonores oniriques pour orgue, électronique et plus encore. La programmation de cette année comprend l'ensemble Good Sine, Beast, Daniel Leroux et Adrian Foster (avec une installation spéciale sur le nouvel orgue expérimental LIMINARE).

Venez souligner le solstice avec nous lors de ce concert exclusif et intime dans la tribune de l'orgue de l'église du Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus. Asseyez-vous autour de la console de l'orgue et plongez-vous dans les résonances profondes de l'orgue à tuyaux, les paysages sonores éthérés de l'électronique et l'acoustique envelopante de cette magnifique église néogothique. Ce concert est une alternative apaisante et introspective aux autres concerts festifs du mois de décembre.

Les Vespérales de l'orgue du Sacré-Cœur presents the second edition of the annual winter-solstice ambient night, featuring dream-like sonic atmospheres for organ, electronics, and more. This year’s lineup includes Good Sine Ensemble, Beast, Daniel Leroux, and Adrian Foster (with a special installation on the new LIMINARE experimental organ).

Come mark the solstice with us at this exclusive, intimate concert in the organ loft of the église du Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus. Sit around the organ console and be immersed in the deep resonances of the pipe organ, the ethereal soundscapes of the electronics, and the enveloping acoustic of this stunning neogothic church. This concert is a calming and introspective alternative to other festive holiday concerts throughout the month of December.

Hello everyone !
Ubisoft's Life Drawing session will be back for one last time this year, Monday, December the 22th, 6 to 9 PM, on the 1st floor of the Peck building (5480 St-Dominique Street), in the Bernard Landry room.
To celebrate the Year's end, we will share beverage and food. We will offer some drinks and snacks. You are invited to bring as you wish, drinks and food, to share too.
The session is open to anybody willing to draw. No artistic background required. So if you would like to join us, rendez-vous around 5:50 PM in the Bernard Landry room. No registration needed. You'll easily find the room.
Please note that for now on the session will be charged 10$/person cash. The payment is during the break at around 7:30 PM. We DO NOT proceed Interac transfer.

I'll be hosting a year end zine-making session again this year! I have a template people are welcome to use, but there are many templates and it can be really nice to design your own. Generally it involves:
 
1) looking through your calendar and photos and writing down what happened this year, week by week (or month by month if you want to do it faster)
2) Answering some questions (writing or drawing or point form or whatever) about the year. Like: who did I spend time with? Who showed up for me? Who did I show up for? What felt good? What was hard? What's a song that meant something to me? Etc.
3) Thinking a bit about the coming year and answering questions about that too in your zine

It's more paralell play than guided workshop.

Optiional:
- Feel free to bring pens or markers or art supplies
- Feel free to wear something comfortable
- Feel free to bring snacks to share, ideally vegan so I can try it too! Snack ideas: fruit. berries, veg, nuts, hummus, muhmmara, pita, samosas, most baguettes, many crackers, most very dark chocolate, oreos, sweet chili heat, spicy dill, katjas, so much more
