Contra dance is a high energy American folk dance accompanied by driving live music and taught by a caller. No partner or experience required! This dance will be called using the role names "Larks and Robins."

2:30 pm - 3 pm: Introductory session. Recommended for new dancers.
3 pm - 5:30 pm: Dance
There will be a snack table at the break, if you want to contribute and help ContraMontreal, bring some food to share!

- Masks are welcome at our events and recommended during flu season
- Please stay home if you have cold or flu-like symptoms

Minimum: $8 (No minimum for children under 13)

As strikes rates have risen in recent years across Québec and Canada, so too have government efforts to restrict them. These efforts are part of a long Canadian tradition of state repression of strikes, although they have evolved over time.

What is behind these efforts to suppress strikes? How and why have they changed over time? How do they affect collective bargaining? Why isn’t arbitration a suitable alternative? And why do governments keep doing this? Join a panel of labour experts and legal practitioners for a round-table discussion of these and other important questions related to efforts to suppress workers’ right to strike.
