The 2026 edition of the PHI residency welcomes Eva Quintas, and Spoonful of Dirt, a collective formed by Andrea Williamson and Nina Pariser. Throughout the month of June, the public is invited to discover the emerging forms of their research and to contribute to them through this exhibition, as well as during a series of free public activities. While distinct in their approaches, the works presented here converge around shared concerns: questioning the environments we inhabit and shape, assessing the effects of human constructions on a diversity of living beings, and dreaming up futures in which more equitable modes of organization might emerge. In resonance with each other, these projects reveal different ways of inhabiting, perceiving, and relating to the territories we share, while opening onto the imagination of new configurations and modes of existence.

Open Source is now Format Montreal! And Format Montreal is a community-led, horizontal design festival amplifying talent in the Montreal design scene. They're having a second (third?) general meeting to answer everybody's questions and get the ball rolling, since the festival is set to start September 10th, which is in 4 months people! Festival MURAL du 4 au 14 juin sur le boulevard Saint-Laurent, entre Laurier et Sherbrooke

Multisatures en vestiges is Mathieu Lacroix's second solo exhibition with McBride Contemporain. This exhibition brings together a new series of drawings on recycled paper and hybrid installation techniques, the exhibition reflects on the monumental presence of discarded objects in everyday life. Abandoned furniture, empty boxes, and other residual items that persist within our environments even as they disappear from collective attention, simultaneously occupying space while remaining overlooked by the collective gaze.

Ceremony is a presentation of the recent painting and drawing works of Alexei Kolakis-Landon and Tomas Dessureault, curated by Thomas-Antoine Girard. Together, the two artists envision painting as a site where gesture, material, and colour come together to create a lived aesthetic experience not solely contained to the canvas.

We have learned to observe living organisms through devices designed to stabilize them: Petri dishes, incubators, monitoring screens. Within this biomedical framework, life becomes observable, isolatable and measurable. Unstable Ecologies proposes a shift. The exhibition, featuring work by Jacqueline Beaumont, Alizée Armet, and Yue Cheng, examines how the life sciences are transforming our perception of the biological realm no longer as a static entity, but as a constantly evolving relational system. Drawing on the concept of biomedia, it reveals continuities between organisms, materials, and technical infrastructures. Against a backdrop shaped by industrial legacies and the promise of technological remediation, Unstable Ecologies invites viewers to rethink the living as a shared, unstable, and evolving environment. Rather than providing answers, Unstable Ecologies invites viewers to inhabit uncertainty and to think of life as relation, process and latency.

Pour la deuxième année, l’After Party, organisée en collaboration avec Kollectif, prolonge les festivités au CCA après la Soirée.

Conçue comme une continuité plutôt qu’une conclusion, l'After Party prend un rythme plus décontracté tout en restant dynamique, rassemblant différentes communautés sous un même toit.

Animée par la musique, les échanges et le mouvement, la soirée se présente comme une célébration collective de l’architecture. Réunissant diverses générations et pratiques, elle offre un espace de rencontre où la communauté se forme aussi naturellement sur la piste de danse que dans les échanges.

Un reçu de don sera émis pour le montant admissible de chaque billet.

For the second year, the After Party, organized in collaboration with Kollectif, extends the night at the CCA, following the Soirée. Conceived as a continuation rather than a conclusion, the evening shifts into a more laidback yet effervescent rhythm bringing many communities under one roof.

Shaped by music, conversation, and movement, the evening unfolds as a collective celebration of architecture, supporting the CCA’s ongoing work. Across practices and generations, it offers a space to come together—where community forms as naturally on the dance floor as it does in conversation.

A donation receipt will be provided for the eligible amount of each ticket.

Part of Things + Time Alpha Launch event

The pieces that make up this exhibit were salvaged over the years and repurposed in the present time. They were found and taken on worksites, in the shade of rising structures, the dust of sanded plaster, the smell of wood being chopped.

Chaque escale met en lumière une tradition musicale portée par des artistes d'exception : Sareh Borna (kamanche – musique persane), Deo Munyakazi (inganga et voix – musique du Rwanda), Ran Wang (guzheng – musique de Chine) et Charles Cantin (violon traditionnel québécois). Tous les concerts sont entourés par le percussionniste Ziya Tabassian, favorisant un dialogue sensible entre les cultures. Le projet célèbre la diversité musicale et invite à une expérience immersive, accessible et profondément humaine. Ce concert, dédié à la musique perse, sera interprété par le duo Sareh Borna et Ziya Tabassian. Annulé en cas de pluie abondante.

In their first solo work, Alegría Gobeil allows themself to be traversed by a multiplicity of suicidal figures, shifting individual suffering into a surprisingly collective space. An embodied investigation that questions psychiatrization and explores the desire to die in its contradictions with life. This work is presented as part of OFFTA, a performing arts festival in Montreal committed to emerging avant-garde creation in the performing arts.

This project-driven workshop studio explores immersive practices using Unreal Engine 5, with participants developing individual projects supported by targeted demos and one-on-one guidance. Honouring the past and yet looking forward, Art Sur Papier celebrates Galerie ERGA's 10th anniversary and brings together the work of 49 artists whose practices resonate with the spirit and vision of the gallery. Using paper as a material connection, each artist varies medium, style and approach to their work, creating a dynamic but cohesive exhibition.

"the experimental session" est une soirée mensuelle d'exploration sonore entre trois musicien·ne·s de la scène montréalaise. Initiée par la multi-instrumentiste et compositrice Salomé Perli, ces soirées sont une occasion unique de mettre à l'honneur la musique improvisée et expérimentée au Quai Des Brumes, reconfiguré dans un cadre intime pour l'occasion. The experimental session is a monthly evening of sound exploration between three musicians from the montreal scene. Initiated by multi-instrumentalist and composer salomé perli, these evenings are a unique opportunity to showcase improvised and experimental music at quai des brumes, reconfigured in an intimate setting for the occasion. The Montréal-based Swedish vocalist and composer Erika Angell defies categorization. Across seventeen independently produced albums and innumerable collaborations, Angell has been a poetic and audacious force in genre-defying music. Her voice has been described as "a guiding presence" (Exclaim) that "splits the difference between the divine and demonic, skillfully unhinged" (Under The Radar) and "sits alongside the greatest indie female artists who are not afraid of anything" (Le Devoir). Relocating to Montréal in 2012, her career now spans two decades, characterized by a fearless pursuit of originality, an inexhaustible desire to traverse genres, and a dedication to artistic collaboration. Angell melds musical territories from classical, rock and jazz to electronic and avant-garde and she is known foremost for her unconventional artistry with the celebrated avant-rock band Thus Owls. Her debut solo album of unreleased material was completed and expressionist works.

Ateliers Belleville and Eastern Bloc are celebrating the opening of LAB-545: a new independent creative space in Montreal. This massive group exhibition, curated by Ariane Plante and Alexis Bellavance, highlights the diversity of members of Ateliers Belleville and invites the public into the heart of their workspaces. A selection of works is freely accessible on the first floor; to discover the other works, reserve a spot for one of the guided tours.

A Rope and a Wheel, A Dress and a Squeal opens with a loon calling out to a potential mate, or perhaps to the other species that appear in Molly Bertheaud's work; bird, cetacean, human and otherwise. Through painting, industrial knit tapestry and hand embroidery, Molly's work explores interspecific ways of imagining responsibility, desire, love and folly.

La Fondation Guido Molinari convie le public à redécouvrir la majestueuse œuvre 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘶 (1995) de Molinari, un polyptyque monumental faisant partie de la collection du Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. Grâce à une collaboration majeure avec le MNBAQ, l’œuvre sera de retour à Montréal et exposée à la Fondation Guido Molinari trente ans après sa présentation inaugurale en 1995, dans le même espace qui fut autrefois l’atelier de l’artiste.

𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘶 est une œuvre somptueuse composée de cinq grands tableaux disposés en arc-de-cercle. Les panneaux génèrent un espace rappelant une scène qui, le temps de l’exposition à la Fondation, agira comme point de rencontre entre les arts visuels et les arts vivants, par le biais de nouvelles créations qui répondent à cette œuvre imposante.

Scaffold is a collection that seeks to anchor itself through the rituals of everyday use. Developed through local fabrication, the series places material and formal honesty at the centre of each object. Restraint shapes the collection. Forms are derived from practical requirements, and production remains intentionally straightforward. The intention is to maintain clarity of purpose and to stay close to the scale of the body and its movements. Shown In-Situ this collection aims to gather friends, family, neighbours, and community in an informal familiar setting where life can unfold alongside it.

On Tuesday, June 16, join in for the launch of the ELEKTRA Festival. An exclusive opportunity to learn about the program alongside the artists and partners, and to attend the premiere of Lucas Paris’s performance “vibrantuser.online.” 🛜

Schedule:
→ 6 PM: Cocktail and networking on the SAT rooftop, in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles. Presentation of the festival’s artistic and professional program.
→ 7 PM: « vibrantuser.online », an audiovisual performance by Lucas Paris, created during his residency at SAT. Inside the dome, a series of pictograms transform in real time via a touchscreen, creating dreamlike digital scenes. A Q&A with the artist will follow the performance.

FUJI||||||||||TA est un artiste sonore basé au Japon. Sa pratique explore des phénomènes naturels et des dispositifs expérimentaux afin de révéler des sons inaudibles ou inconnus, avec une attention particulière portée à l’écoute et à l’observation.

L’artiste est reconnu pour un orgue à tuyaux auto‑construit sans clavier, joué à l’aide d’un soufflet manuel. Son travail a été présenté internationalement, notamment au Rewire Festival (NL), Big Ears Festival (US), Variations Festival (FR), Pioneer Works (US), Bourse de Commerce (FR), Send+Receive (CA) et Tectonics Glasgow (UK).
Ses albums incluent iki (Hallow Ground), KŌMORI (Boomkat Editions) et NOISEEM (33‑33).

Anju Singh est compositrice, artiste sonore et multi-instrumentiste. Elle explore la dynamique, la texture et le son pur dans ses compositions et improvisations. Musicienne, elle s'intéresse aux techniques étendues et expérimentales, ainsi qu'à la réutilisation d'instruments traditionnels dans de nouveaux contextes. Cela l'amène parfois à concevoir et fabriquer ses propres instruments, inspirés d'instruments existants. Ses matériaux de prédilection incluent instruments de musique, synthétiseurs, voix, électronique, objets trouvés ou fabriqués sur mesure, échantillons et enregistrements de terrain. Anju a présenté son travail au Canada et à l'international, notamment aux États-Unis, au Brésil, au Mexique, en Europe et au Japon. Outre sa pratique musicale et sonore dans les domaines de l'improvisation, de la musique expérimentale et de l'art sonore, Anju se produit également sous le nom de The Nausea et est batteuse et guitariste dans divers projets de metal. Elle est la commissaire et directrice du Vancouver Noise Fest, un festival indépendant et autofinancé dédié à la musique noise, qui en est à sa 11e édition.

Florence-Delphine Roux est une artiste numérique et sonore originaire de la ville de Québec et basée à Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Elle est titulaire d’une maîtrise de l’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Villa Arson à Nice, France. Son travail explore l’intersection entre l’art, la science et la technologie, avec une orientation vers le médium radiophonique. Ses créations se manifestent sous forme d’expériences d’écoute, d’installations sonores immersives, de performances, de vidéos d’art et d’œuvres radiophoniques.

“ Porté par une pratique liée au son, qui trouve en particulier sa source dans une matière emmagasinée à partir d’enregistrements effectués en grande partie en extérieur, la travail de Florence-Delphine Roux tient pour beaucoup d’une réflexion basée sur la possibilité de jouer avec des textures non perceptibles de manière rétinienne, des champs électromagnétiques notamment, participant ainsi d’une perturbation du réel. Avec la volonté de développer une pratique de la fiction, l’artiste investit également le champ de la production radiophonique, avec comme ambition l’élaboration d'un « cinéma pour l’oreille ». “ texte Frédèric Bonnet

FUJI||||||||||TA is a Japan‑based sound artist whose practice explores natural phenomena and experimental instruments to reveal unheard and unknown sounds, with a strong focus on attentive listening and observation.

They are known for a hand‑built pipe organ without a keyboard, played using a manual air pump. Their work has been presented internationally at Rewire Festival (NL), Big Ears Festival (US), Variations Festival (FR), Pioneer Works (US), Bourse de Commerce (FR), Send+Receive (CA) and Tectonics Glasgow (UK). Their albums include iki (Hallow Ground), KŌMORI (Boomkat Editions) and NOISEEM (33‑33).

Anju Singh is a composer, sound artist, and multiinstrumentalist who experiments with dynamics, texture, and pure sound in her composed and improvised work. As a musician, she is interested in extended and experimental techniques as well as re-application of traditional instruments in new contexts, sometimes leading to the development and build of new self-made instruments based on loose concepts of existing instruments. Her source materials include musical instruments, synthesizers, voice, electronics, custom-made/found objects, samples, and field recordings. Anju has presented her work across Canada and internationally including in the US, Brazil, Mexico, Europe, and Japan. In addition to her sound and music practice in areas of improv, experimental music and sound art, Anju also performs under the moniker The Nausea, and is also a metal drummer and guitarist in various projects. Anju is the Curator and Director of Vancouver Noise Fest, a self-funded and independently-run festival committed to noise music that has run for 11 editions.

Florence-Delphine Roux is a digital and sound artist originally from Quebec City and based in Montreal. She holds a master's degree from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Villa Arson in Nice, France. Her work explores the intersection of art, science, and technology, with a focus on radio. Her creations take the form of listening experiences, immersive sound installations, performances, video art, and radio pieces.

Driven by a sound-based practice, particularly rooted in material gathered from recordings made largely outdoors, Florence-Delphine Roux's work stems from a reflection on the possibility of playing with textures imperceptible to the retina, notably electromagnetic fields, thus contributing to a disruption of reality. With the aim of developing a practice of fiction, the artist also explores the field of radio production, with the ambition of creating a "cinema for the ear." -Frédèric Bonnet

Gradually tinged with radio frequencies, this performance illuminates our surrounding soundscape while making audible the omnipresent but imperceptible frequencies of our environment. Sculptural antennas capture these sometimes distant frequencies, revealing a third space shaped by hidden sounds and communications.

Ellen Arkbro (b. 1990) is a composer, musician and sound artist working with precisely tuned intervallic harmony. Her practice includes compositions for acoustic instruments, synthetic sound, and hybrid forms, as well as installation work.
Across her work, she focuses on the qualities of harmonic sound that frame listening as an active process of creative participation, inviting the listener to gradually merge with the sound itself.

Pour son exposition estivale, le Livart a invité six artistes de sa boutique d’art à réinterpréter et explorer une expression de la langue française dont la richesse symbolique demeure souvent méconnue : le bouquet final. À travers leur travail photographique, les artistes en proposent une relecture singulière : à travers l’hommage, le point culminant, la transformation ou la promesse d’avenir. L’exposition met ainsi en lumière la vitalité de la photographie au Québec, tout en créant un dialogue sensible entre tradition et contemporanéité. Dans un monde ultra connecté, marqué par l’instantanéité et la transformation continue, l’exposition invite à ralentir et à redécouvrir la valeur des gestes façonnés par le temps.

Through a series of four outdoor concerts in the parks of Plateau-Mont-Royal, come and meet artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. Each concert celebrates cultural diversity at the crossroads of musical traditions from around the world. This concert, dedicated to Chinese music, will be performed by the duo Ran Wang and Ziya Tabassian. Musical Stopovers is a series of four open-air concerts presented in the parks of the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood, creating intimate moments of connection between artists and audiences in the heart of the community. Each stopover highlights a musical tradition performed by exceptional artists: Sarah Borna (kamancheh - Persian music), Deo Munyakazi (inganga and vocals – Rwandan music), Ran Wang (guzheng – Chinese music), and Charles Cantin (traditional Quebec violin). All concerts are accompanied by percussionist Ziya Tabassian, fostering a meaningful dialogue between cultures. Peter Morin and Jimmie Kilpatrick are friends who share an abiding love for karaoke and present it through their ongoing artistic collaboration, "Love Songs to End Colonization / Kanorónhkhwa'tshera Karenna'shón:'a Taká:taste ne Aionkhiia'tó:rarake," a participatory karaoke project founded in kindness, joy, futurity, and engaging a collective voice through singing. By repurposing popular love songs, this project critiques, confronts, and dismantles the historical notions and the current presence of settler colonialism and utilizes karaoke as a methodology for social change. Listeners are invited to perform a song, sing along, clap, dance, or simply witness and soak in love and music to dismantle colonialism, one love song at a time.

Adeu x Olivier Rodrigue is a collaborative exhibition and immersive experience, marrying visual art and gastronomy. The exhibition features ten paintings by Montréal artist Olivier Rodrigue, including six works never before exhibited, alongside a site-specific installation created for the occasion. The culinary collective ADEU will present a series of bites inspired by the artworks, creating a conversation between image, material, and taste. Risk lies at the heart of Rodrigue's practice. His paintings are built within a fragile balance between intention and accident, embracing uncertainty as a creative force. Rather than seeking complete control, he allows each work to emerge through experimentation, resistance, and discovery. This exhibition brings together two disciplines united by a shared openness to process, intuition, and the unknown.

Li Alin est une artiste sonore et performeuse interdisciplinaire basée à Montréal. Son travail musical explore un large éventail de styles, des ballades mélancoliques au piano aux danses expérimentales, en passant par la cave et la bass music.

Alin a également conçu des machines à rêves lucides en réalité virtuelle et une installation sonore de synchronisation des battements cardiaques robotiques, présentée à la Fondation Made in Cloister à Naples.

Son album solo, Nouvelle Préhistoire, prévu pour 2026, raconte l'histoire d'un personnage réfugié dans une grotte. Cet être tente d'envoyer des signaux de basse fréquence pour communiquer avec d'autres êtres.

Founded in 1992, Ratchet Orchestra brings together some of the most active musicians from Montreal’s improvised music scene. A large, ever‑shifting ensemble, the Ratchet creates dense collective music in which raw sonic power is inseparable from human vulnerability.

Drawing on voices, winds, strings, guitar and percussion, Ratchet Orchestra explores the dynamic tension between composition and improvisation, intensity and sensitivity. Each performance becomes a shared act of risk‑taking, where sound emerges through close listening, momentum and collective presence.

Bellbird est un quartet basé à Montréal réunissant Claire Devlin (saxophone ténor), Allison Burik (saxophone alto, clarinette basse), Eli Davidovici (contrebasse) et Mili Hong (batterie). If you just want to watch: we have a community of regulars who play a wide range of styles from ambient to techno to harsh noise - so there will always be a full night of great music to enjoy.
