Montreal Cultural Calendar

The 2026 edition of the PHI residency welcomes Eva Quintas, and Spoonful of Dirt, a collective formed by Andrea Williamson and Nina Pariser. Throughout the month of June, the public is invited to discover the emerging forms of their research and to contribute to them through this exhibition, as well as during a series of free public activities. While distinct in their approaches, the works presented here converge around shared concerns: questioning the environments we inhabit and shape, assessing the effects of human constructions on a diversity of living beings, and dreaming up futures in which more equitable modes of organization might emerge. In resonance with each other, these projects reveal different ways of inhabiting, perceiving, and relating to the territories we share, while opening onto the imagination of new configurations and modes of existence.

Open Source is now Format Montreal! And Format Montreal is a community-led, horizontal design festival amplifying talent in the Montreal design scene. They're having a second (third?) general meeting to answer everybody's questions and get the ball rolling, since the festival is set to start September 10th, which is in 4 months people! Multisatures en vestiges is Mathieu Lacroix's second solo exhibition with McBride Contemporain. This exhibition brings together a new series of drawings on recycled paper and hybrid installation techniques, the exhibition reflects on the monumental presence of discarded objects in everyday life. Abandoned furniture, empty boxes, and other residual items that persist within our environments even as they disappear from collective attention, simultaneously occupying space while remaining overlooked by the collective gaze.

Ceremony is a presentation of the recent painting and drawing works of Alexei Kolakis-Landon and Tomas Dessureault, curated by Thomas-Antoine Girard. Together, the two artists envision painting as a site where gesture, material, and colour come together to create a lived aesthetic experience not solely contained to the canvas.

We have learned to observe living organisms through devices designed to stabilize them: Petri dishes, incubators, monitoring screens. Within this biomedical framework, life becomes observable, isolatable and measurable. Unstable Ecologies proposes a shift. The exhibition, featuring work by Jacqueline Beaumont, Alizée Armet, and Yue Cheng, examines how the life sciences are transforming our perception of the biological realm no longer as a static entity, but as a constantly evolving relational system. Drawing on the concept of biomedia, it reveals continuities between organisms, materials, and technical infrastructures. Against a backdrop shaped by industrial legacies and the promise of technological remediation, Unstable Ecologies invites viewers to rethink the living as a shared, unstable, and evolving environment. Rather than providing answers, Unstable Ecologies invites viewers to inhabit uncertainty and to think of life as relation, process and latency.

Try to arrive between 7pm & 8pm so we can set you up before showtime.

Latecomers are OK - but you will be inserted at the end of the other sets.

If you just want to watch: we have a community of regulars who play a wide range of styles from ambient to techno to harsh noise - so there will always be a full night of great music to enjoy.

Pour la deuxième année, l’After Party, organisée en collaboration avec Kollectif, prolonge les festivités au CCA après la Soirée.

Conçue comme une continuité plutôt qu’une conclusion, l'After Party prend un rythme plus décontracté tout en restant dynamique, rassemblant différentes communautés sous un même toit.

Animée par la musique, les échanges et le mouvement, la soirée se présente comme une célébration collective de l’architecture. Réunissant diverses générations et pratiques, elle offre un espace de rencontre où la communauté se forme aussi naturellement sur la piste de danse que dans les échanges.

Un reçu de don sera émis pour le montant admissible de chaque billet.

For the second year, the After Party, organized in collaboration with Kollectif, extends the night at the CCA, following the Soirée. Conceived as a continuation rather than a conclusion, the evening shifts into a more laidback yet effervescent rhythm bringing many communities under one roof.

Shaped by music, conversation, and movement, the evening unfolds as a collective celebration of architecture, supporting the CCA’s ongoing work. Across practices and generations, it offers a space to come together—where community forms as naturally on the dance floor as it does in conversation.

A donation receipt will be provided for the eligible amount of each ticket.

Part of Things + Time Alpha Launch event

The pieces that make up this exhibit were salvaged over the years and repurposed in the present time. They were found and taken on worksites, in the shade of rising structures, the dust of sanded plaster, the smell of wood being chopped.

À travers une série de quatre concerts en plein air dans les parcs du Plateau-Mont-Royal, venez rencontrer des artistes d'horizons culturels variés. Chaque concert célèbre la diversité culturelle à la croisée des traditions musicales du monde. Escales musicales est une série de quatre concerts en plein air présentés dans les parcs du Plateau-Mont-Royal, créant des moments de rencontre intime entre artistes et public au cœur du quartier. Chaque escale met en lumière une tradition musicale portée par des artistes d'exception : Sareh Borna (kamanche – musique persane), Deo Munyakazi (inganga et voix – musique du Rwanda), Ran Wang (guzheng – musique de Chine) et Charles Cantin (violon traditionnel québécois). Tous les concerts sont entourés par le percussionniste Ziya Tabassian, favorisant un dialogue sensible entre les cultures. Le projet célèbre la diversité musicale et invite à une expérience immersive, accessible et profondément humaine. Ce concert, dédié à la musique perse, sera interprété par le duo Sareh Borna et Ziya Tabassian. Annulé en cas de pluie abondante.

In their first solo work, Alegría Gobeil allows themself to be traversed by a multiplicity of suicidal figures, shifting individual suffering into a surprisingly collective space. An embodied investigation that questions psychiatrization and explores the desire to die in its contradictions with life. This work is presented as part of OFFTA, a performing arts festival in Montreal committed to emerging avant-garde creation in the performing arts.

This project-driven workshop studio explores immersive practices using Unreal Engine 5, with participants developing individual projects supported by targeted demos and one-on-one guidance. Honouring the past and yet looking forward, Art Sur Papier celebrates Galerie ERGA's 10th anniversary and brings together the work of 49 artists whose practices resonate with the spirit and vision of the gallery. Using paper as a material connection, each artist varies medium, style and approach to their work, creating a dynamic but cohesive exhibition.
