I’d like to meet some people in Montreal who are a bit like me.

As part of my project to be free, to be a post-racial, global citizen, I would like to meet people a bit like me in Montreal.

Join our Indigenous Literatures Book Club as we meet on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024 at 7 PM to discuss Prairie Edge by Conor Kerr.

The Indigenous Literatures Book Club focuses on work by indigenous writers from around the world. Hosted by Tara McGowan-Ross, a Mi’kmaq multidisciplinary artist and writer, the meetings are free and open to all.

Conor Kerr is a Métis/Ukrainian writer living in Edmonton. A member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, he is descended from the Lac Ste. Anne Metis and the Papaschase Cree Nation. His Ukrainian family are settlers in Treaty 4 and 6 territories in Saskatchewan. He grew up in Saskatoon, Edmonton, and other prairie towns and cities. In 2022 he was named one of CBC’s Writers to Watch. He is the author of the poetry collections An Explosion of Feathers and Old Gods, as well as the novel Avenue of Champions, which was shortlisted for the Amazon Canada First Novel Award, longlisted for the 2022 Giller Prize and won the 2022 ReLIT award. Conor is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta where he teaches creative writing.

A wonderful teahouse will be the hosting venue for a small springtime pop-up market for all who love the fountain pens, inks, art, and stationary... and delicious tea.

Parking is on the street with parking meters or in a lot on Ethyl a couple blocks away. If you are taking public transit, then Metro de l'Eglise is down the street. The venue is between Wellington Street and Verdun Avenue.

A vendors list will start showing up in this description (6-8 vendors) sometime after January.

Entry is free, just come have some tea! In this way we support small businesses and local community alike.
