Pour cette 4ème soirée du cycle de performances Les caresses qui nous unissent, la Fonderie Darling invite le public à découvrir le travail de l’artiste pluridisciplinaire Lara Kramer. Ensuite et jusqu’à la fin de la soirée, la Place Publique se transforme en piste de danse au rythme rock et funk du DJ set de Louis Philippe Moore.

This is the Place Where We Pray est une quête ancrée dans la durée qui plonge dans le silence et l’immobilité. S'appuyant sur la fondation posée par l’œuvre d’art visuelle de 2022 (Baptiste et Kramer) du même nom, ce projet utilise l’œuvre originale et le processus de sa création, son histoire et sa vie comme référence intime pour la prise en main instinctive de la Place Publique par l’artiste. Ce travail cherche à étendre la portée sensorielle et dimensionnelle de l’œuvre originale à travers des expériences expérimentales et des connaissances du lieu et de ses relationalités.

Située à l’extérieur de la Fonderie Darling, This is the Place Where We Pray vise à dévoiler de nouveaux modes d’expression et un large éventail d’histoires à travers la visualisation, l’activation et l’incarnation de l’œuvre originale par Kramer. Bien que l’œuvre ne soit pas révélée, l’activation est un lieu où les frontières du temps, de la mémoire et de l’espace se brouillent, avec une précision et une intention imprégnées de signification. Le projet invite les spectateurs à s’immerger dans le récit en cours et offre à certains le choix de transgresser les limites conventionnelles aux côtés de l’artiste.

Lara Kramer est une interprète, chorégraphe et artiste anishinaabe multidisciplinaire d’origine mixte oji-cri et colon, qui a grandi à London, en Ontario. Elle vit et travaille à Tiohtiake/Mooniyang/Montréal. Ses œuvres chorégraphiques, sa recherche et sa pratique sur le terrain au cours des quatorze dernières années ont été fondées sur les relations intergénérationnelles, le savoir intergénérationnel et les répercussions des Pensionnats Indiens du Canada. Elle est la première génération de sa famille à ne pas avoir fréquenté les pensionnats. Ses créations sous forme de danse, de performance et d’installation ont été présentées au Canada, en Australie, en Nouvelle-Zélande, en Martinique, en Norvège, aux États-Unis et au Royaume-Uni.

For the fourth evening of the Les caresses qui nous unissent performance series, Fonderie Darling invites the public to explore the work of multidisciplinary artist Lara Kramer. Later, Place Publique transforms into a dance floor for the rest of the evening, pulsating to the rock and funk beat of Louis Philippe Moore’s DJ set.

This is the Place Where We Pray is a durational exploration that delves into silence and stillness. Inspired by the 2022 visual artwork (Baptiste and Kramer) of the same name, the project employs the original artwork and its creation process as a reference point for the performer’s instinctual engagement of Place Publique. This work seeks to expand the sensory and dimensional reach of the original piece through experimental experiences and knowledge of place-based relationality.

Located outside of Fonderie Darling, This is the Place Where We Pray aims to uncover new modes of expression and a wide spectrum of stories through Kramer's visualization, renewal, and embodiment of the original piece. Although the artwork isn't displayed, the project creates a space where time, memory, and space intersect, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the unfolding narrative and transcend conventional limits alongside the performer.

Lara Kramer is a performer, choreographer, and multidisciplinary artist of mixed Oji-cree and settler heritage, raised in London, Ontario. She lives and works in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. Over the past fifteen years, her choreographic work, research, and fieldwork have focused on intergenerational relations, intergenerational knowledge, and the impacts of the Indian Residential Schools of Canada. Kramer is the first generation in her family not to attend the Residential schools. Her approach to experiential practice and the creative process of performance, sonic development, and visual design is based on embodying experiences like dreams, memories, knowledge, and reclamation. Her dance, performance, and installation creations have been showcased across North America, Europe, Australia/Oceania, and Martinique.
