Montreal Cultural Calendar

Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of a new year, a new month, and the High Holidays, but have you ever wondered what determines these ever-changing dates? Join the Museum of Jewish Montreal to find out, with a night of festive stargazing and astronomical exploration. 
Led by Plateau Astro (Trevor Kjorlien), visitors will be taken on a guided walk through the Plateau to learn about the relationship between the planetary movements, the Jewish New Year and the Hebrew calendar. The walk will conclude in Parc Jeanne-Mance where visitors will be invited to explore the night sky by telescope.

Please note that capacity is limited, so early registration is recommended to avoid disappointment.
About Our Guest: Trevor Kjorlien is a Space Educator who runs Plateau Astro, a small company based in Montreal dedicated to teaching people about space, astronomy, and culture.
Weather Policy: In the event of severe weather conditions, the tour will be rescheduled and all participants will be automatically invited to attend the rescheduled date.

Good morning

We are very happy to invite you to the public inauguration with music of the work of Leilani & Téo: Harvesting Generations: An Indigenous Celebration of Nature’s Bounty Thursday September 21 at 7 p.m. at Maison Nivard-De Saint-Dizier, museum and archaeological site ( https://goo.gl/maps/8bnkdFkDXWybqbcj9 ) .
Harvesting Generations is an immersive and heartfelt work of art that pays homage to the rich cultural traditions of the Haudenosaunee people. The projection mural serves as a vibrant canvas, beautifully depicting the Haudenosaunee way of life, including harvest celebrations, traditional songs, and strong sense of community.
TEO is a multidisciplinary visual artist, originally from Toulouse and based in Montreal. His style is defined through dynamic and caring creations linking exaggerated characters and abstract landscapes. Through muralism, projection mapping and installation, TEO makes public space a real playground and exploration. https://theoleroux.myportfolio.com/
Leilani Shaw is a Mohawk from Kahnawà:ke and a member of the Turtle Clan. His works are a contemporary take on traditional Mohawk and Haudenosaunee tales, bringing new life to legends passed down for hundreds of years. Using aspects of surrealism, she incorporates the details and meanings of the legends into works of art for all to enjoy.
