*Inter-medio* is an exhibition showcasing Latinx artists whose works explore the complex relationships between land, memory, and materiality. It reflects on themes of fragmentation, language, and connections, examining shifting territoriesboth physical and imaginedand how we inhabit and shape the world. The works delve into ecosystems, landscapes, and borders, questioning boundaries and emphasizingfluidity, resistance, and communication. Artists like Alexandra McCormick, Alissa Osumi, and Saul Sanchez engage with the unseen and the invisible, while others like Kimberly Orjuela and Alejandra Zamudio use materiality to bridge history and contemporary experiences. The exhibition challenges traditional frameworks, proposing alternative ways to understand identity, place, and memory. Through their practices, the artists invite a reflective, slow-paced engagement that transcends boundaries and reimagines cultural codes.

Curated by Riesbri, an artist represented by JANOGallery, the exhibition will be held at JANO Gallery, Suite 200, 3819 Wellington, H4G 1V2 and will run from Wednesday, February 5th, 2025 to Monday, March 10th, 2025. The opening night will be a festive evening from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

Since its inception in 1992, the Faculty of Fine Arts Biennial has showcased the varied practices of teachers from the Department of Fine Arts, offering students and thecommunity the opportunity to glimpse their work outside of the classroom.

Their contributions to this exhibition span a variety of mediapainting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and the written word, among othersillustrating a profound engagement with both traditional practices and new technologies. At the core of the many explorations that this exhibition offers are complexities surrounding the environment (both natural and built); the human condition and the relationships that we forge; the material world; and more intangible elements linked to our existence. Through the work, one can gain insight not only into the artists themselves, but also into the evolving artistic landscape that shapes the Fine Arts department.

By bridging theory and practice, this exhibition nourishes students in their own work, and contributes to a larger dialogue within the artistic community. (Amanda Beattie)

''Our Minds Create Our Reality'' presents a series of ceramic sculptures that bridge the past and present, drawing on pre-Columbian traditions to address contemporary issues like climate change and mental health. Rooted in a deep reverence for the artists Indigenous ancestry, her work pays tribute to history while highlighting the inextricable link between our collective health and that of the planet,and the impact of our environmenton our mental equilibrium.

Kimberly Orjuela is a Colombian-born visual artist currently based in Montreal. Her work explores ways to decolonize our minds by rewriting undervalued histories through clay,preserving her culture, and honouring her ancestors.

In Thomas Kneubhlers new exhibition, The Dividing Line, the messiness of theBulgarian borderscape comes into sharp relief. The past and presentcomingle. Walking through the gallery space, cut apart by a 30 footlong cold steel fence, we see crumbling Soviet walls juxtaposed with modern surveillance technologies.

La pratique multidisciplinaire de Milutin Gubash joue avec les codes narratifs de la vido, de la sculpture, de la photographie et dela performance. Laurat du Prix Louis-Comtois de la Ville de Montral en 2019, et rcipiendaire de nombreuses bourses, prix et rsidences internationales, le travail de Milutin Gubash a t largement expos travers le Canada, les tats-Unis et lEurope depuis2000.

N Soleure, en Suisse,Thomas Kneubhler dtient une matrise en arts visuels, obtenue en 2003, de l'Universit Concordia Montral. Depuis, il poursuit une pratique artistique base sur la recherche, qui comprend le travail sur le terrain dans des endroits isols et sur des sites dont l'accs est restreint. Abordantles questions du pouvoir, de l'exploitation des ressources naturelles ou des effets des nouvelles technologies sur la socit, ses uvres ont t largement prsentes, notamment au Centre culturel canadien Paris, au Muse d'artcontemporain de Montral, la Videonale.15 du Kunstmuseum Bonn, ainsi qu'aux Rencontres internationales de Paris et de Berlin. Ila reu le Swiss Art Award en 2012 et a t boursier de rechercheau Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) Sofia, Bulgarie, en 2018.

Milutin Gubashs multidisciplinary practice plays with narrative codes of video, sculpture, photography and performance. Laureate of the Prix Louis Comtois for the Cityof Montreal in 2019, and recipient of numerous grants, awards, and
international residencies, MilutinGubashs work has been widely exhibited throughout Canada, UnitedStates and Europe since 2000.

Born in Solothurn, Switzerland, Thomas Kneubhler graduated with an MFA from Concordia University, Montreal in 2003. Since then, Kneubhler has pursued a research-based art practice including fieldwork inremote locations and on sites where
access is restricted. Addressing questions of power, the exploitation of natural resources, or the effects of new technology on society, his work has been presented widely, among others at the Centre culturel canadien, Paris, the Muse dart contemporain de Montral, the Videonale.15 at the Kunstmuseum Bonn, and at Les Rencontres International in Paris and Berlin. He received the Swiss Art Award in2012, and was a research fellow at the Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2018.

: The workshop is made possible thanks to REPAIRE's work, and funding from the Quebec government's Intervention-Comptences program, administered by Comptence Culture.

This three-day workshop, led by Anna Eyler, provides an introduction to animation in Blender: a professional open-source software dedicated to 3D modeling and animation. Participants will learn to model and animate 3D objects to create their own animated video. The first day will include an introduction to 3D software and focus on Blender's interface and basic 3D modeling tools. On the second day, participants will learn how to animate their own 3D modeled objects. The final day will cover how to properly light and render video of a 3D animated object. Online resources, support communities, and further learning opportunities will be discussed throughout the workshop.

This workshop addresses a growing need in the media arts sector todiscover the use of Blender technology. Indeed, this multi-purpose open-source platform is widely known and used worldwide for object prototyping, 3D printing manufacturing, scenic space rendering, and animation creation. It is used in visual and media arts, film, video game animation, and various industries. Blender is easily accessiblefor artists and doesn't require advanced knowledge in electronics or programming. It will allow artists to discover new creative possibilities in digital arts and design. Consequently, this workshop willprovide participants with new skills and multiply their career and collaboration opportunities.

Anna Eyler is a Montreal-based media artist. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies and Art History from Carleton University (2010), a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Ottawa (2015), and a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University (2017). Working collaboratively with Nicolas Lapointe under the name AENL, their practice explores web environments and computer-generated worlds, particularly those related to video games and immersive technologies. Interested in the influence of digital objects on daily life, they use the language of computer programs to question the communicative and relational potential of digital technology. Drawing inspiration from data centers, science fiction, and video games, they examine the implications of increasinglymediated experiences. Their recent exhibitions have been presented at Sporobole (2022), PAVED Arts (2023), and DRAC: Art Actuel (2024).Anna has been teaching 3D modeling for six years.

VEGAN SOCIAL MIXER
Join us for a vegan dinner party filled with good people, good food and good music! This event is open to all vegans, single or not.

- Date & Time: Sunday, February 9, from 8:00 PM to 11:15 PM
- Location: TULA (a fully vegan restaurant)
- Capacity: Maximum of 50 participants
- Menu: $26+TX per person for 1 starter and 1 main dish, or $35 to include a drink.

How does it work?

BEFORE THE EVENT:

1. To reserve your spot, join the guest list via this link :

2. After signing up and joining the guest list, you willfind the menu available there. Now choose your option for the main dish and mention it in a comment.

3. Set up your profile by changing your description, and mention:

Relationship goals:

(For the relationshipsgoals, you can write "Friendships" if you're in an exclusive relationship. Otherwise, you can write many goals, such as "Monogamy", "Polyamory", "Friendships", "FWBs", etc.)

4. Once you've completed these steps, message Alexandra Ginowan. Shell confirm if anything ismissing.

DURING THE EVENT:
Each participant will be given a personalized board mentioning their name, pronouns, spoken languages, sexual orientation, hobbies, and relationship goals.
To facilitate connections, we may ask you to switch tables between meals.
Optional Speed Meeting: We will offer anoptional speed meeting session towards the end of the evening. People will have brief conversations, and then rotate to a new person after each round. Participate if youwish, or continue with casual conversations with the rest of the group.
Optional dancefloor: If the mood strikes, we might open a dancefloor for those who want todance!

AFTER THE EVENT:
You'll be able to fill out a form to select people youd like to meet again and check out other profiles viathe Partiful app. Alexandra will send out the results after two weeks.

PENDANT L'VNEMENT :
Chaque participant recevra une plaque personnalise avec son nom, ses pronoms, les langues parles, son orientation sexuelle, ses centres d'intrt et ses objectifs relationnels.
Pour faciliter les connexions, nous pourrions vous demander dechanger de table entre les repas.
Speed Meeting optionnel : Nous proposerons une session de speed meeting optionnelle vers la fin de la soire. Les gens auront de brves conversations, et se dplaceront vers une nouvelle personne chaque tour. Participez si vous le souhaitez, ou continuez discuter avec les autres invits.
Piste de danse optionnelle: Si lenvie de danser se fait sentir, nous pourrions ouvrir une piste de danse pour ceux qui le souhaitent !

APRS L'VNEMENT :
Vous pourrez remplir un formulaire pour slectionner les personnesque vous aimeriez revoir et consulter les profils des autres participants sur lapplication Partiful. Alexandra enverra les rsultats aprs deux semaines.
