Pangée est ravie de présenter Cercles, une exposition collective exhaustive repensant l’abstraction et le surréalisme à travers des œuvres s’échelonnant des années 1940 à aujourd’hui. Les œuvres se font écho, générant des interconnexions entre architectures souples, nœuds luminescents et vortex tourbillonnants, tandis que des figures biomorphiques dérivent à travers des horizons ambigus, déployant une intériorité dans l'instabilité du devenir.

Cette installation met en lumière l’emprise culturelle de l’automobile et de sa place dans les espaces naturels. L’environnement recréé est celui d’un bord d’autoroute où git une carcasse de voiture maintenue en vie par un système de pompes. À cette mécanique répond la présence du roseau commun, une espèce exotique envahissante dont la propagation a été favorisée par les fossés humides et les vents le long de la Transcanadienne.

Enjoy a friendly evening and discover Pierre-Olivier Déry's exhibition
This installation highlights the cultural impact of the automobile and its place in natural spaces. It recreates the environment of a highway shoulder where a car wreck is kept alive by a system of pumps. This mechanical setup is mirrored by the presence of common reed, an invasive exotic species whose spread has been favored by the wet ditches and winds along the Trans-Canada Highway.

Over the past few years, ARCMTL, an arts and heritage organization in Montreal, conducted research projects exploring the little-known history of Montreal's diverse Black musical culture. ARCMTL hosted many activities with local community partners to engage the public in this quest to fill in the blanks of this history.
This presentation will discuss some of these activities such as zine workshops, radio broadcasts and an online map website, Nights of Montreal, that tell the stories of the places and people that made this culture thrive.

Louis Rastelli has been the Director of ARCMTL since 2013, a cultural historian, writer and DJ since the 1990s, involved in many heritage and arts projects in Quebec and Canada.
Delilah Edouard Williams is an art and cultural curator dedicated to elevating contemporary emerging BIPOC artists and fostering inclusive, community-engaged arts programming. Through her experience in creative workshop programming, she actively works to amplify collective narratives and ensure that underrepresented voices have the space to shape and tell their own stories.
Chloe Martin is a music educator, with a background in music history, and event programmer with ARCMTL. They are the organizer of “Owning Our Histories: Celebrating DIY Archives from Queer & BIPOC MTL” an ongoing ARCMTL series.
ARCMTL is a non-profit arts and heritage organization in Montreal that has a dual mandate to both promote and preserve the city's independent arts and culture. For over 20 years, they have grown their collections of Montreal indie arts culture which are accessible through their archive centre and through exhibitions and public programming. ARTMTL's Louis Rastelli and Chloe Martin both worked on the project Nights of Montreal and will be joining us to tell us about their work mapping Black musical culture in Montreal.

For this New Moon Deep Listening Weekend, three certified Deep Listening facilitators - Ayelet Rose Gottlieb, Kathy Kennedy, and Katie Down - offer a rich series of experiences inspired by the work of feminist composer Pauline Oliveros.
This two-day, in-person workshop, preceded by an online introduction and a concert, invites participants to reconnect with their voices, bodies, and listening awareness through Deep Listening practices, vocal improvisation, sound walks, guided meditations, and free writing. No prior experience with Deep Listening or music is required—only curiosity and openness.
What Is Deep Listening?
Deep Listening is a practice developed by feminist composer Pauline Oliveros that cultivates heightened awareness of sound, self, and environment. Through simple, often playful practices, including text scores (short written instructions that invite collective attention and sound-making), participants are encouraged to listen deeply to themselves, others, and the world.

Katie Down is a New York–based sound artist, flutist, composer, music psychotherapist, and certified Deep Listening facilitator. Her work spans sound art, free improvisation, folk, jazz, and experimental music, using both traditional and found-object instruments. Katie has created sound scores for theatre, dance, and film, earning Drama Desk nominations and a Connecticut Critics Circle Award. She has taught music therapy at SUNY and is a frequent guest lecturer at NYU, Vassar, and the School of Visual Arts.

Kathy Kennedy is a Montreal-based sound artist with training in visual art and classical voice. Her practice explores voice, technology, and public space through telephony, radio, and large-scale participatory works. She is a founder of Studio XX (now Ada-X) and the women’s choral ensemble Choeur Maha. Kathy teaches music at Concordia University and regularly leads workshops on listening, acoustic ecology, and vocal improvisation.

Jerusalem-born, Montreal-based vocalist Ayelet Rose Gottlieb is an international performer and composer whose work blends jazz, Middle Eastern and Jewish music, contemporary composition, and conceptual improvisation. Her collaborations include John Zorn, ETHEL, IONE, and Naomi Shihab Nye. Her recent recording with Dream Keepers - DUST - is currently a finalist for the Opus Prize for “Album of the Year” in the World Music category.

Temporary Ensembles are born, live short and potentially magical musical lives, and then sublimate into thin air. Their births involve a balanced merging of black arts as strange dice are rolled and initiates are invited to make random selections with life-altering consequences from a deck of sacred cards. The lives of temporary ensembles are intense, contingent, dripping with joyous risk and ugly beauty. They conclude with a sudden intake of breath that always already tastes of the moment after an end that already was. And then there is another.

Joe Sorbara began organising Temporary Ensembles Nights in Toronto in 2015. Since, they have been shared with communities of improvisers at Presentation House in Vancouver, Silence in Guelph, Into the Abyss in Hamilton, and at the Halifax Public Library.
Soirée d'Ensembles Temporaires
Les ensembles temporaires naissent, vivent des vies musicales brèves et parfois magiques, puis se dispersent dans l'air. Leur naissance tient d'une alchimie particulière : on lance des dés, on invite les participants à piocher dans un jeu de cartes sacrées: des gestes simples aux conséquences imprévisibles. La vie de ces ensembles est intense et contingente, traversée de risque joyeux et de beauté brute. Elle se termine sur une inspiration soudaine, qui a déjà le goût de l'après; d'un après qui, en un sens, avait déjà commencé. Et puis un autre ensemble naît.
