You want to make zines but don’t know where to start?
You have an ongoing project but are tired of working alone?
You lack motivation to create art when you are back at your place?
You want to make art with cool people?
Come join us at our next session of the Zine Club!

Presented by Librairie Drawn and Quarterly, the monthly Zine Club welcomes anyone 16+ who wants to draw and craft, get to know other artists, practice and work on their personal project. There is no need to have previous knowledge to be able to join the club. Registration is not required, we will be accepting everybody until room capacity (30 people).

For our first session of the year, we will be welcoming beloved local comic artist Jade Armstrong (they/them), who will host a workshop on threading, binding and illustrating.

The meetings will be held every other Monday from 7pm to 9pm, at La Petite Librairie Drawn and Quarterly on 176 rue Bernard O.
Materials will be provided, and you are welcome to bring your own.

À propos de Sarah Rossy (1er acte) : SARAH ROSSY est une artiste multidisciplinaire basée à Tio’tia:ke/Montréal dont le travail mélange le jazz, l’électronique expérimentale et les projections visuelles dans des paysages sonores éthérés qui sont à la fois autobiographiques et socialement conscients.

La pratique artistique de Sarah est centrée sur la musique et le son, mais elle s’est développée de façon fluide pour incorporer le mouvement interdisciplinaire et les projections visuelles. Un mentorat avec Meredith Monk, des explorations du patrimoine culturel à l’Arabic Music Retreat, une recherche ancestrale avec l’Arrivals Legacy Workshop et des résidences au Banff Centre sont autant d’expériences formatrices qui vivent et respirent dans le travail de Sarah.

La riche histoire de collaboration de Sarah comprend des enregistrements avec Patrick Watson, Thanya Iyer, NO COSMOS, Aaron Dolman, Jack Broza et bien d’autres. En 2021, Sarah a été nommée directrice artistique du chœur féministe Chœur Maha et a accepté un poste de Professeur de musique au Collège Dawson. La pratique interdisciplinaire de Sarah comprend maintenant l’éducation comme outil de justice sociale, d’autonomisation et de transformation.

Dance Music for All Occasions, A musical journey paying homage to Tommy Crane’s father the
late Nolan Crane, a jazz band leader from St. Louis, Missouri in the 1960s, is a promising blend
of nostalgia, and a dash of modern artistry. It is the follow up recording to Tommy Crane’s first
solo release from 2022, We’re All Improvisers Now (whirlwind recordings).

THE AIR CONTAINS HONEY est un « orchestre » qui mélange des musiciens professionnels et amateurs à la recherche d’une convivialité et d’un esprit de communauté qu’ils peuvent ou non trouver. Toutes leurs chansons suivent la même structure de base : une citation chantée quatre fois, une pause instrumentale, puis la même citation chantée à nouveau quatre fois. Pour le public comme pour les interprètes, c’est l’occasion d’entendre un orchestre en train de découvrir sa sonorité au fur et à mesure.

Les membres de The Air Contains Honey est en constante évolution. Mais le 31 janvier, nous pensons que ce sera le cas : Maude Arès, Patrick Conan, Michael Feuerstack, James Goddard, Thanya Iyer, Modibo Keita, Adam Kinner, Liam O'Neill, Lara Oundjian, Pompey, Stephen Quinlan, Rebecca Rehder, Catherine Fatima, Frédérique Roy, Mulu Tesfu et Jacob Wren.

ASSIYAH JAMILLA TOURÉ est une artiste multidisciplinaire d’origine ouest-africaine qui est née et a grandi sur le territoire de Skwxwú7mesh et qui est actuellement basée sur le territoire de Kanien’kehà:ka. Leur travail se concentre sur le corps en tant que site géographique, les expériences somatiques de l’éco-chagrin, la violence interne et externe et l’animisme.

LA BANQUE DU TEMPS DE BRIQUE PAR BRIQUE est une plateforme qui vise à faciliter l'échange de services entre les résident.es de Parc-Extension. En mettant de l‘avant les diverses compétences et talents des résident.e.s et en créant des ponts entre eux.elles, cette initiative vise à briser l‘isolation ainsi que de renforcer la confiance en soi et entre nous. Grâce à ce projet, Brique par brique pense pouvoir contribuer à l’amélioration des conditions de vie dans le quartier en favorisant un écosystème dynamique où tous et toutes peuvent contribuer et bénéficier, indépendamment de leur statut et de leurs capacités.

ACCESSIBILITÉ // La Sala Rossa est située au deuxième étage (38 marches au total). Il y a des toilettes neutres qui ne sont pas accessibles aux fauteuils roulants. Il y a un système d'aide à l'audition sur le cadran FM à 101.1 FM. Toute personne ayant besoin d'aide pour accéder à l'espace peut nous contacter - nous sommes plus qu'heureux d'essayer d'accommoder les gens au mieux de nos capacités.

THE AIR CONTAINS HONEY was co-founded by Adam Kinner and Jacob Wren and is an “orchestra” that mixes professional and amateur musicians in search of a warmth and community spirit they may or may not find. All of their songs follow the same basic structure: a quote sung four times, an instrumental break, and then the same quote sung another four times. For the audience, as well as for the performers, this is a chance to hear an orchestra in the process of discovering its sound as it goes.

The Air Contains Honey’s lineup is ever shifting. But on January 31st we believe it will be: Maude Arès, Patrick Conan, Michael Feuerstack, James Goddard, Thanya Iyer, Modibo Keita, Adam Kinner, Liam O’Neill, Lara Oundjian, Pompey, Stephen Quinlan, Rebecca Rehder, Catherine Fatima, Frédérique Roy, Mulu Tesfu and Jacob Wren.

ASSIYAH JAMILLA TOURÉ is a multidisciplinary artist of West African descent. They were born and raised on Skwxwú7mesh land and are now currently based in Kanien’kehà:ka territory. Their work focuses on the body as a geographical site, somatic experiences of eco-grief, internal and external violence and animism.

BRIQUE PAR BRIQUE’S TIME-BANK is a platform to facilitate the exchange of services between residents in Parc-Extension. By tapping into the diverse skills and talents within the community and connecting residents, this initiative aims to empower individuals and reinforce community bonds. Through this project, Brique par brique believes it can contribute to the improvement of the living conditions in the neighbourhood by fostering a vibrant ecosystem where all residents contribute and benefit regardless of their status and abilities.

ACCESSIBILITY // The Sala Rossa is located on the second floor (there are 38 steps total). There are gender neutral washrooms which are not wheelchair accessible. There is a Hearing Assistance System on the FM dial at 101.1 FM. Anyone needing assistance accessing the space can contact us - we are more than happy to try and accommodate people to the best of our ability.
